The ongoing 30th anniversary celebration of the Air Jordan V has so far included a coveted Off-White collaboration and the return of Fire Red. The eventful release year continues with a brand new mashup, the AJV SE, that pays homage to the silhouette’s origin story. The shoe’s design formula, introduced on the Air Jordan I in 2016, brings together three of the AJV’s most storied colorways: Fire Red, Black/Metallic-Silver and Grape.
The icy blue outsole on the AJV SE stays true to each of the OG colorways, while the embroidered “23” on the side nods to select Fire Red and Black/Metallic-Silver versions from years past. The Fire Red inspiration extends to the outsole, while the black, nubuck makeup of the OG Metallic Silver inspires the base of the upper. The Grape reference comes to life on the tongue, replacing its infamous, reflective material with a combination of Grape Ice and New Emerald colors. Finishing off its design, the AJV SE has a classic “Nike Air” logo on the heel and sockliner.
The Air Jordan V SE releases June 20 on Jordan.com and SNKRS.
