With each Why Not? apparel collection, Russell Westbrook flexes his fashion sensibilities and pushes the envelope. The designs reference his childhood, travels, basketball, family and more, while also focusing on inclusivity and articulating the Why Not? Mentality.

“I make my product for everybody,” explains Russ. “I like to make it unisex. Everyone can wear it and find a way to be comfortable in it. It’s a little bit oversized, which is how I like to wear my clothes. You can dress it up or dress it down, based on what you wear with it. Every season, that’s how I want it to come to life.”

For Spring 2020, the foundational inspiration was unity and positivity. “The Earth and heart graphics are about bringing youth, people and love together in the world we live in — just having the ‘Why Not?’ mindset and bringing positivity to people through design,” says Russ.

Despite his viciousness on the court, the impact of being a positive influence isn’t lost on Russ. “I think it’s important to be positive,” adds Russ. “On the floor, I’m very focused and locked in on what I need to do. I’m doing my job at a high level, regardless of what’s going on. Off the floor, my main focus is just to be a positive role model and help the youth. That’s the only thing I worry about.”
